Official Rules for
Taste the Licorice Memories Contest
1. Writing Contest. This is a SKILL CONTEST (not a random drawing). Winners will be determined from all valid entries based on the criteria set forth herein below.
2. The Licorice International “Share Your Favorite Licorice Memory” contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States (excluding Puerto Rico, Guam and other protected territories) who are nineteen (19) years of age or older as of April 1, 2007. Entrants who do not meet these eligibility requirements and /or whose entries do not comply with all provisions of these Rules will not be eligible to win a prize.
3. There is NO ENTRY FEE and there is NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase does not provide any chance of winning. Void where prohibited by law.
4. Eligibility. Employees and /or family members of Licorice International, its affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, advertising and promotion agencies and such employees’ immediate family members and persons with whom such employees are domiciled are not eligible to participate.
5. The entry period for the Licorice International “Share Your Favorite Licorice Memory” contest begins April 1, 2007 and ends March 31, 2008.
6. How to Enter the Contest. Eligible persons only (see above) may enter this contest by correctly completing and submitting an entry form, which includes name, accurate e-mail address, and current phone number.
a. Each eligible participant must submit an essay of no more than 150 words describing a personal “Licorice Memory.”
b. Entries may be submitted online at www.licoriceinternational.com website or directly to Licorice International/Contest 803 Q Street, Suite 300, Lincoln, NE 68508
c. Each contestant may enter only once per calendar month. Any contestant who submits more than one entry during a single calendar month may be disqualified.
7. Selection of Winners and Prizes. Prizewinner will be determined from all valid entries each month. Prizewinner will be determined solely at the discretion of Licorice International. All decisions of Licorice International are final and binding.
All valid entries will be judged on the criteria listed here: believability, creativity, relevancy, and interest.
On or about the last day of each month, one prizewinner will be selected receive a $50.00 gift certificate. Following each month’s selection of a prizewinner, all entries will be discarded and a new contest will begin. At the end of 12 months, all monthly prizewinners will be entered into the final judging and the winner will be awarded the Grand Prize.
8. Prizes. There will be one (1) Grand Prize awarded during the final judging. The recipient will be selected after the contest closes on March 31, 2008. Twelve (12) recipients, including the Grand Prizewinner, will receive a $50 gift certificate from Licorice International, with one winner per month, beginning on April 30, 2007 and ending on March 31, 2008. Recipients must provide accurate shipping information before their prize(s) can be shipped.
9. Notification of Winners: Participants whose entries are selected for prizes will be notified via email or telephone on or about the 15th day of the month following the monthly contest or as soon thereafter as commercially reasonable. (For example, the winner of the April 2007 contest will be notified about May 15, 2007.) The email address and/or phone number submitted with the entry will be used to notify each winner. The name, address (city and state) and prize information of each prizewinner will be posted on the Licorice International website at www.licoriceinternational.com/contest/winners. Winners will have five (5) business days to respond to the notification, from the date and time of the email or phone message.
a. Failure to respond within the allotted time will result in forfeiture of the prize.
b. An alternate winner, chosen at Licorice International’s discretion, will replace any previously chosen winner who fails to respond within five (5) business days. Once an alternate has been chosen the previous contestant’s entitlements have been forfeited.
c. Prize recipients may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility in order to claim prizes. Additional verification may be required and will be identified in writing at the time of winner notification.
10. Personal information collected during the entry process will remain property of
Licorice International and will not be released to third parties. All participants agree that Licorice International may use the information submitted in this contest in promotional activities.
11. By entering the contest, contestants agree to allow Licorice International the absolute right to reproduce essays submitted by them to the Licorice International “Share Your Favorite Licorice Memory” contest in promotional activities. Each prizewinner may submit a photograph to be displayed with winning entry but this is not a requirement. Except as required by law, nothing herein shall require or obligate Licorice International to use or disclose any entrant’s entry, name, or photograph for any reason.

13. Transfers/Substitutions. No substitutions will be permitted except that Licorice
International reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, as deemed necessary and appropriate by Licorice International.
14. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. Each participant agrees to release and hold harmless Licorice International and the employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives of Licorice International advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and legal advisors from any and all losses, damages, and actions of any kind in connection with the contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, use of prize, including, without limitation, personal injury, death, and property damage and claims based on right, defamation, or invasion of privacy.
15. Licorice International assumes no liability for unclaimed prizes.
16. General Terms and Conditions: By entering, each participant agrees to be bound by the official decisions of Licorice International, which shall be final. Licorice International, along with its agents, representatives, affiliates, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors are not now liable for and shall not be liable for (1) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undelivered postage-due entries; (2) telephone, electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind, (3) failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer and/or electronic mail; (4) any condition caused by events beyond the control of Licorice International, which may cause contest entries to be disrupted or corrupted: (5) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising in connection with or as a result of the prize or acceptance, possession or use of the prize, or from particular contest, or (6) any human error or printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the contest, (7) Licorice International reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend or cancel the contest at any time.
17. Governing Law/Jurisdiction. This contest is governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska without application of conflict of law principles. By entering and participating in this contest, you agree that any and all disputes arising form or related to this contest shall be resolved between you and Licorice International, individually, without resort to any for of class action, and any and all legal actions shall be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction residing in Lancaster County, Nebraska.
